The printable is a convenient reminder. The essential advice is here whenever you need it.

01

PAUSE

Do not click, reply, pay, share a code, or give access.

02

STEP OUTSIDE

Do not use the link, phone number, QR code, payment route, or instructions the contact provided.

Stop and check

Watch for pressure, not just a familiar story.

One sign is enough reason to pause. It is not always proof by itself.

Common red flags

  • Urgency or threats
  • Secrecy or isolation
  • Unexpected contact
  • Information or access
  • An unusual way to pay

Because they contacted you, do not

  • Move money to “protect” it.
  • Share a password, PIN, or verification code.
  • Install remote-access software or share your screen.
  • Buy gift cards or use a crypto ATM.
  • Treat caller ID, a logo, badge, document, or familiar voice as proof.
